EU, 267 million for new environmental projects
New funds coming from the European Commission on the Environment, with the launch of the annual call Life + Programme. The total expected funding of new projects is 267 million euro. Three fields of action of + Life: nature and biodiversity, environmental policy and governance, information and communication. On the first front, the goal is to improve the conservation status of species and habitats at risk, helping to implement the EU directive, Natura 2000 and the objective of halting biodiversity loss. In this field, the maximum co-financing is 50%, but up to 75% for priority species and habitats.
Regarding side initiatives of environmental policy and governance, the European Commission is trying to launch innovative projects or pilot projects, to develop strategies and instruments. It is also supporting projects for a better implementation of EU legislation, but also to develop sources of information through monitoring activities (including the monitoring of forest areas). These projects can be financed up to 50%. Another category is that which aims to set up communications campaigns on environment protection della natura o conservazione della biodiversità, come pure progetti relativi alla prevenzione degli incendi boschivi. Le proposte dovranno arrivare entro il 15 luglio.
